Death & Respawn

In Nolvus Awakening, when you die, you MUST NOT reload a save as explained in this section. The Shadow of Skyrim mod handles that for you in a stable way.

What the Shadow of Skyrim mod features

  • Turns any enemy who defeats you into a Nemesis with a unique name, increased stats, and special buff (e.g. Argonian Vampire named "Breaks-Many-Shields" with "Shield-Breaker" buff).
  • Gives the player a situational or random debuff upon defeat (e.g. Cannot use shields).
  • Allows your Nemesis to take your gear and use it (e.g. "Breaks-Many-Shields" may be clad in your Chitin armor next time you meet him if your armor is better than his)!
  • Encourages exploration by respawning the player to a new situational or random location upon defeat (e.g. Vampire lair because "Breaks-Many-Shields" is a vampire).
  • Gives the player a quest to track down your Nemesis/Dropped Backpack with immersive directions (e.g. Return to Shrine of Mara, near Morthal).
  • Motivates the player to complete Nemesis quests (e.g. Defeating "Breaks-Many-Shields" will remove the "Cannot use shields" debuff and grant the "Shield-Breaker" buff.
  • Provides a continuous gameplay experience without saving and reloading (You respawn after defeat instead of dying and reloading).
  • Intentionally synergizes with other mods that add new enemies, locations, abilities, and perks!

In Nolvus Awakening, Shadow of Skyrim comes with a default profile you can customize in its MCM Menu

Defeat

When you die, you can lost some of your gears, your gold,...

You can change that, by setting your dropped gears to 0% chance for items marked as 1

You can also change the inventory items and gold you can lost, by setting your dropped items and gold to 0% chance for items marked as 2

Respawn

By default you will respawn in a random location, you can though change that here

Last bed used is very helpfull if you want to always respawn in a specified location where you always sleep.

You can also using the campfire mod (described here) place a campfire, a tent/bedroll near a dungeon where you sleep to always respawn there.

You can also choose to respawn at the last location (not random and not hostile) like this

Nemeses

Everything about your Nemeses (the enemy who defeated you) here

Managing Issues

If you have some issues with the mod like

  • You can't get back your backpack
  • You defeated your nemeses but the debuff is not removed

Go to this section, enable the following depending the issue you got.

Then in the tracker tab, click on a buff/debuff to remove it or on a backpack to access it.
