To ensure the stability of the game and the integrity of your save files, you absolutely need to follow these guide lines.
1. Never save while in combat or doing actions
Be sure to find a quiet spot wait 30 sec then save. Same applies when you entering a new cell/building (wait 30 sec before saving)
2. When you die, don't reload a save
In Nolvus Awakening, the mod Shadow of Skyrim makes you respawn in a dynamic location without reloading and the NPC who killed you becomes your nemesis. You will have to kill your nemesis to get your gear back and cure your debuff. You can customize this behaviour here. This mod keeps your save clean.
3. Verify your save file when saving (from time to time)
Download the Fallrim tool available here install it, load your last save and it will tell if everything is fine in your save. Then you know you can continue with your save
In Nolvus Awakening Save files are located by default in your Nolvus Awakening folder (under the Instances Folder), sub directory MODS/profiles/Nolvus Awakening/saves
4. Never ever uninstall or install mods that are not safe to uninstall/install mid playthrough
Doing this will create orphaned scripts instances and will break your save or the game itself. Check the mod page to know if the mod is safe to be installed or uninstalled mid playthrough
5. Don't use autosave
Autosaves are disabled by default in nolvus. If they are enabled, please disable them.
6. Keep Several Saves
Try to keep a set of 5-10 save files. Backup the rest. Never save the game on the same save.
7. Dot not reload a save ingame
Better to exit the game and reload. Don't forget to check point 4 before restarting the game.
Below you will see a video done by the famous modder wSkeever explaining why these save practices and most particulaty not reloading a save ingame are important.
