Leveling

In Nolvus Awakening, there are 2 ways to level up.

  • The Vanilla way
  • The alternate leveling option
The Vanilla Way

To use the vanilla way, don't select the Alternate Leveling option during the installation with the Dashboard.

To level up in the vanilla way, you need to use skills to level them up.

  • Using one handed weapons will increase up your One Handed skills
  • Using two handed weapons will increase up your Two Handed skills
  • Creating potions will increase your alchemy skills
  • Creating items at the forge will increase your smithing skills
  • Etc...

As you use a skill, you automatically gain a small amount of experience in that skill (which we will call "Skill XP"), eventually causing that skill to level up. Skill level-ups can also be acquired instantly from training or by reading skill books. Every time you level up a skill, you also gain experience toward a character level-up (which we will call "Character XP", or simply "XP"). Furthermore, increasing the levels of your skills is the only way you are able to increase your character XP. However, leveling up low-level skills offers only a low amount of character XP toward your next level, while leveling up high-level skills offers more. The required amount of character XP needed to gain a character level-up increases as your character level increases.

When your reach a new level you can choose to increase either Health, Magicka or Stamina by 10 points and you earn a perk point you can use in any skill tree provided by Nolvus Awakening.

The Alternate Leveling Option

To use the alternate leveling, you need to select that option during the installation with the Dashboard.

Using that option, you don't need to use skills anymore to level them up.

You gain xp with the following

  • Killing enemies
  • Discorver new locations
  • Completing quests

When you gain enough xp to level up, you can still choose to increase either Health, Magicka or Stamina by 10 points and you earn a perk point but you also earn skills points you can spend in any skills to level them up.

Leveling up with Survival enabled

If you activated sunHelm (more info about this mod in the Survival section), you normally need to sleep to level up your character (when a new level has been reached), when you don't activate sunHelm you can level up at any time. Though to have consistency between leveling up with sunhelm activated or not we decided to disable the need to sleep to level up either sunHelm is enabled or not.

If you still want to sleep to level up your character when sunHelm is activated, you need to go to the Survival Control Panel MCM menu and enable the sleep to level up setting.

Getting Perk Points

In Nolvus Awakening, you can get perk points the following way

  • Each time your character levels up, you gain one perk point
  • By completing quests
  • By finding skyshards throughout the world

These perk points can be used in the standard game skill trees but also in the Custom Skills trees.
